In just 48 hours, you and a diverse bunch of colleagues, friends and complete strangers will design a brand new service and present it to the rest of the world.
On the weekend of Feb 17-19, 2017, teams from over 40 cities in the world will use service design to tackle a common problem. You will do research, come up with concepts, make prototypes, test them with users, with a group of amazing people and mentors from design-driven organizations around town. A theme is revealed at the start of the weekend as inspiration but after that, it’s up to you to take it rest of the way. So how would you design a service from scratch in just 48 hours?
You'll work with a mixture of talented people who are willing to experiment and challenge each other. Spending 48 hours together with like-minded people, it's not unusual to see participants become friends or even professional collaborators. You'll be part of a network that will support you through the years to come.
Schedule for the weekend:
Meet, warm-up, quick intro to service design
The theme is revealed!
Form teams around the most interesting ideas
Street and desk research, develop concepts, and create first rough prototypes
Iterate! keep building improved or re-thought prototypes while getting feedback
More time to improve your prototype.
When you reach the end of the jam, document, upload and share your latest prototype(s) on the global platform.
Share your prototype locally and celebrate!
