Take away culture

Intercultural exchange between families with children

Global Service Jam Umea
6-8 March 2014

The service concept is called ‘ take-away culture’. And it works to bring families in different countries closer over common topics of interest. The service is specially aimed at parents with smaller children (4-10yrs) and as a fun educational activity. In the following service we show the exchange between a Chinese and swedish family over a special interest theme of ‘celebrations and food’. The short film shows the service from the point of view of the Swedish family.

The concepts of ‘in the box’ and ‘out of the box’ was the starting point for this idea. How could we make both relevant but also extend the experience tools held within the box to creating inclusiveness, cultural tolerance and physical meet ups and perhaps even long lasting relationships.
