Common Ground Saturday Progress

on Sun, 03/03/2013 - 01:56

Saturday's Activities:

During the morning, we defined some survey questions and gained lots of insights from in-person interviews and social media discussion threads. We used our feedback to start pulling together a more solid idea for our service: a web-based app that could match 2 people from different cultures to one another based on a common interest. We liked the idea of modeling a three-phase interaction with the idea of a 3-course meal.

During the afternoon hours, we exchanged feedback with other jammers and came to a pivot point. We decided to narrow our user-base down to high school students studying a foreign language. We re-invented our service into a curriculum/program that can match American high school students with foreign high schoolers who speak the language of interest and encourage them to participate in an interactive communication experience.

In the evening, Bob & Karrie started on our story board prototype, Susan & Heather started the group's participation in the Global Service Jam website, and Trinley provided moral support. :)

After a hard day's work we had fun participating in out facilitators' zany closing meeting - survey via selective high-five.

We came a long way in one day! Go Team!
