The History of the Jam

on Thu, 03/05/2015 - 21:54

Our friends at the Service Design Network wrote a special about the history of the Jam

We ROCKED the Jam!

on Mon, 03/02/2015 - 00:46
It’s over, folks, it’s over. YOU ROCKED THE JAM!
We started in Tehran on Thursday morning and went round the world three times to close in California on Sunday night. The Jammers in this collage are just a small part of the thousands who took part on on 6 continents. Now, the locations are closed, the uploads are uploaded and the Global Service Jam 2015 is no longer LIVE. ‪#‎GSJam‬ is over folks. It's over. Though we will see you again soon...

This was the fifth Global Service Jam, and we are amazed by the progress it has made. Powered by volunteers and a tiny budget, it has gone from strength to strength. The great focus on prototyping this year was a clear expression of the key jam philosophy of "doing, not talking!" Well done everyone! We all have plenty to do now, looking through the prototypes, tidying up. There are still files being uploaded, and that's great - the more complete the documentation, the better. There are newspaper articles to read, TV reports to watch, and lots of new ideas and insights to digest. But first, it's time for your HQ (and your local Hosts!) to rest.
And we need to thanks those wonderful people from GlobalHQ who gave up their own time, supporting you and missing the opportunity to Jam themselves. Thanks to Rafael (RP) in Brazil, Francis (FX) in India, Deborah (DS) in the USA and Ana in the UK who helped in the early phase. You worked beside the three "Jamgineers" Natasche, Markus and Adam both before and during the Jam. You helped to plan and execute the event and choose the fantastic Secret Theme. Thanks, guys, and to everyone else who helped - especially the local hosts, our film angel Ritika and her unsuspecting husband Ashish!
We're sorry for the things that went wrong (blame your Jamgineers!), and we say THANKS for what went right! If you’re back at work already, then take a moment to look at a few projects, leave some feedback, share a few pictures on Facebook, tell a friend what you experienced and how it felt. Join us in saying thanks to the wonderful Hosts, supporters & EVERY Jammer too!
The Global Service 2015 was amazing! And if you want to do it again - in a whole new context - then see you at Global GovJam in June!
You ROCKED! You JAMMED! YOU are the Jam!
Your Jamgineers Adam, Markus and Natasche say...

We are rolling!

Jam hosts and Jammers in Tehran are already on their way to the Jam, ready to kick off the Global Service Jam 2015 in style! They'll be joined by Cairo a few hours later, then other middle eastern Jams on their Friday morning, at much the same time as the Jams in New Zealand and Australia also get in gear.

It's going to be an amazing Jam as thousands of people in over around 100 cities meet face to face to Jam new services around a common Secret Theme! Follow us on Facebook and Twitter!
